Game Overview

Welcome to BluffFrenzia, a game where wit meets whimsy in a whirlwind of storytelling and guessing! Perfect for parties and family game nights, this game invites you to weave hidden words into captivating tales and unmask the secret elements in others' narratives. Are you ready to craft stories that enchant, deceive, and entertain?

Players take turns as the Narrator, drawing a card with a story prompt and secret words. The Narrator then weaves a tale, subtly incorporating these words without revealing them. Other players listen and attempt to guess the secret words. Points are awarded for correctly guessing the words and for each word the Narrator successfully conceals.

How to Play

The game unfolds in rounds. Each round is completed when every player has had a turn as the Narrator. At the start, players agree on the number of rounds. The Narrator clicks on "New Prompt" to view their prompt (but not the secret words) and has 10 seconds to decide whether to proceed or to Skip. Players are allowed one skip per game.

After the 10 seconds or upon choosing to skip, the three secret words are revealed. The Narrator then has 60 seconds to tell their story, subtly weaving in the secret words. The first two words, each worth 2 points, are relatively easy and relate to the prompt's theme. The third word, more challenging and worth 5 points, requires greater creativity to incorporate.

Voting & Scoring

Once the Narrator finishes their story, other players guess the secret words to earn points. The game offers two voting styles:

Sequential Voting with No Repeated Words: Starting with the player to the Narrator's left, players take turns guessing one word each, without repeating previously guessed words. After all players have guessed, the Narrator reveals the secret words. Points are awarded to the Narrator for each word not guessed and to players for correct guesses. In games with 5+ players, if all words are guessed, the Narrator earns 10 points, and other players do not receive points.
Simultaneous Secret Voting: After a brief discussion, players write their guesses secretly and reveal them simultaneously. If multiple players guess the same word, none of those players nor the Narrator scores points for that word.

Narrator Challenges

In BluffFrenzia, Narrators encounter fun challenges during their storytelling. These range from mentioning a specific colour three times to subtly performing a gesture. Successfully completing a challenge without detection earns the Narrator bonus points. However, if another player spots and calls out the challenge, that player earns the points. Only the player to the Narrator's left can guess the challenge.

General Rules

Exact word guesses are required to earn points. For compound secret words (e.g., Invisible Portal), players must say both words to score. Conversely, if the secret word is "Portal" and a player guesses "Invisible Portal" because the Narrator used this phrase, they do not earn points.
In the secret voting style, players who misspell a correctly guessed word still earn points.
The game supports team play for two or more players.
Narrators must use all secret words exactly as written on their card within the allocated time.
Narrators should avoid listing numerous words solely to obscure the secret words and confuse players.
Try to make the story about yourself or someone you know. Be imaginative and funny! Ingeniously weave the secret words into your narrative, especially the third one, which is worth 5 points! Use the image provided for each prompt as inspiration.

Game Settings

Players can customize their game experience with the following options in the app:

Durations: Set the time for a player to decide whether to accept the prompt or skip (default is 10 seconds) and the duration for storytelling (default is 60 seconds).
Categories: Choose which prompt categories to include in the game.
Challenges: Decide whether to include challenges in the game.

Wearing two different shoes to work using words: "Laces," "Stride," and "Kangaroo": "So there I was, strutting into the office with a stride that could rival a runway model. Little did I know, my fashion statement was a tad more... eclectic than intended. You see, in my early morning haze, I grabbed two different shoes. But hey, I tied those laces with such finesse, anyone would've thought it was intentional! Now, picture this: one shoe flat as the Australian Outback, the other as bouncy as a kangaroo on a trampoline. I like to think I brought a little 'hop' to everyone's step that day!"
A toddler making a mess at a fancy restaurant using words: "Highchair," "Spill," and "Spacesuit": "Imagine this: a high-end restaurant, waiters in bow ties, and there's me with my little nephew. He’s perched proudly in his highchair like a king surveying his kingdom. But then, it happens – the great milk spill of 2023, a milky way right there on the table. And as the milk river flows, I think, 'If only I had a spacesuit to navigate this zero-gravity milk mess.' You know, just floating around, dodging flying peas and carrots. It was one small step for a toddler, one giant leap into laundry night for me!"
A mission to rescue a captured spy using words: "Code," "Interrogation," and "Beach Umbrella": "So there I was, on a top-secret mission to rescue our best spy. I crack the code to enter the villain’s lair – a sequence of taps on a beach umbrella left casually by the door. Who would have thought, right? In I go, stealthy as a cat. I find our spy mid-interrogation, tied to a chair, with a single light bulb swinging overhead. 'Expecting rain?' he quips, eyeing the beach umbrella. 'No,' I reply, 'just bringing a bit of sunshine to this dreary place.' And with a swift move, we're out, umbrella in hand, ready for cocktails on the beach after a mission well done.""
